Presidency Commeds Army For Clearing Boko Haram Remnants
The Presidency has commended the Nigerian Army for clearing the remnants of Boko Haram insurgents and restoring order to the northeast.
Presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina, gave the commendation in Abuja on Monday at the guards brigade first quarter inter-unit short talk competition aimed at enhancing the communication ability of men and officers.
Adesina, who was a special guest of honour at the event, said the army deserved commendation for curtailing insurgents’ activities and fighting other criminal elements in the country.
He said: “I must at this point commend the efforts of the Nigerian Army in clearing the remnants of Boko Haram terrorists from the northeast of our dear country and other ongoing operations against criminal elements across the country.
“We must continue to reflect and remember the great sacrifices our gallant men and women in the Nigerian Army are making to keep our fatherland safe and habitable. Well done and keep it up.”
The presidential aide stressed the need for regular training and re-tooling of the army in view of rising security challenges.
“I’m delighted that the Guards Brigade in particular and the Nigerian Army in general is making efforts to train its personnel,’’ Adesina stated.
He urged the military to remain resolute and sustain the tempo of equipping its men and officers, saying acquiring appropriate skills in public speaking will greatly enhance the army’s internal and external relations.
The commander of the Guards Brigade, Brig- General Musa Yusuf, said the event was to enhance the personal confidence of officers and men in public speaking as well as to highlight the roles and responsibilities of the army to the public.
