Police take custody of fugitive linked to abduction, killing of FRSC officer, daughter

The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the arrest and transfer of fugitive suspect Victor Benjamin Fejemirokun, who allegedly abducted and murdered a female Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) officer and her young daughter in Osun State.

Fejemirokun, who fled Nigeria shortly after the incident, was handed over to the Nigeria Police by the Ghana Police Service on Monday in Accra. His capture followed a coordinated multi-agency effort driven by credible intelligence that traced him to Ghana.

According to a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Ghanaian authorities swiftly arrested the suspect and notified INTERPOL’s National Central Bureau (NCB) Abuja, which dispatched a team to complete the handover process.

Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, extended his condolences to the family of the slain officer and her daughter, assuring that the investigation will be thorough and pursued to its logical conclusion before the suspect is formally charged in court. He praised the Ghana Police Service for its professionalism and cooperation in the cross-border operation.

The Nigeria Police Force reiterated its commitment to safeguarding citizens and ensuring that criminals are brought to justice, regardless of borders, as it continues to strengthen international collaborations against transnational crime.

The incident has drawn widespread attention, with many Nigerians calling for swift prosecution to deliver justice to the bereaved family.
