Plateau Gov. Caleb Mutfwang set for grand reception as he joins APC
Jos, the Plateau State capital, will on Tuesday, January 27, take centre stage in Nigeria’s political landscape as Governor Caleb Mutfwang is formally received into the All Progressives Congress (APC).
This was disclosed in a press statement issued on January 23, 2026, by the Media and Publicity Committee of the grand reception. According to the statement, preparations are in top gear for what organisers described as an “earth-shaking” and historic event, which has already heightened political activities and public excitement across the state.
The Central Planning Committee for the reception is co-chaired by former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Ahmed Idris Wase, and former Senate Minority Leader, Senator Simon Mwadkon. The committee, alongside other members, has been working round the clock to ensure a befitting welcome for the governor. Several sub-committees have also been inaugurated and are actively coordinating logistics and programme details.
The announcement of the reception date has generated widespread interest, with residents and political stakeholders eagerly awaiting the event. Activities lined up ahead of the grand reception include press conferences, media engagements and road shows across key parts of the state.
Given the significance of the occasion, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is expected to receive Governor Mutfwang, alongside other top APC leaders. Also expected at the event are the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, as well as several progressive governors and party chieftains.
Organisers expressed confidence that, with the level of preparation so far, the reception would be colourful, well-attended and memorable in the political history of Plateau State.
The statement was signed by Sir Joseph Ari, OON, Chairman of the Media and Publicity Committee.
