Peace may finally returns to Ota and its environs as operatives of Ogun state Police Command apprehended three members of notorious land grabbing syndicates who have been terrorizing these areas for so long.

In a press statement made available to newsmen in Abeokuta by DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, Police Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Command, he confirmed that these syndicates were arrested on June 29th, 2020 in the course of the nefarious actions.

He noted that the suspects as Rufai Abdulkareem, Tobi Ajayi and Wasiu Oladipupo were arrested following a distress call received by the Area Commander Ota from Owolabi estate that some hoodlums numbering about ten operating on motorcycles invaded the estate, armed with dangerous weapons and shooting sporadically at people working on a site.

Oyeyemi said: “Consequently, seven amongst the workers sustained various degrees of gunshot injuries.

“Upon the distress call, the Area Commander Ota, ACP Monday Agbonnika quickly mobilized his anti-robbery men and moved to the scene. On sighting the policemen, the hoodlums took to their heels, but three among them were arrested while others escaped.

“Recovered from them were one locally made single barrel pistol, three live cartridges and two expended cartridges. The injured workers were taken to General hospital, Ota for medical attention.

“Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Cp Kenneth Ebrimson has directed that the arrested suspects be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence department for further investigation.
