PDP rejects Bauchi south senatorial by-election, threaten legal action
The Bauchi State chapter of opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has rejected the result of August 11th Bauchi South senatorial by-election won by the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Lawal Yahaya Gumau.
Addressing a press conference, the state chairman of the party, Alhaji Hamza Koshe Akuyam said that the election is the most scandalous held in the state.
According to him, the ruling APC allegedly connived with the Independent National Electoral Commisiion, security agencies and other elements to rig the election in its favour.
“Vote buying was not only widespread, but was conducted in the open. The APC led government in the state openly lured citizens with cash for their votes, which were sold for anything between 100, 200, 500, 1000 and in some cases 5,000 Naira per vote. Simply put the Ballot Paper became the most sought after commodity in the senatorial zone.”
