PDP presidential ticket: Kwankwanso urges party to give ticket to North-West zone

Ahead of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), presidential primary in October, frontline aspirant, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwanso has charged the party to give the presidential ticket to the North-West zone in the country.
Also, he expressed that with his wealth of experience, he is more qualified to be the nation’s president having served the country in the various sensitive capacity.
Kwankwanso, who was earlier at the Oba of Benin palace, to seek royal blessing made this observation while addressing party’s delegates and members at the party secretariat, Benin City, on Monday.
While defending his agitation, the two time governor of Kano State stated: “It is a common knowledge based on previous census that Kano State is the most populous state and North-West is the most populous region in the country.
“So, If it is true that our former party is fielding a candidate from the North West, it is also necessary for the PDP to consider fielding its candidate from the zone.
“I have no doubt in my mind that the South-South and South- East are very solid in PDP. I believe that what we will do in the North with what will come out in the South West, PDP will be victorious in the 2019 presidential election.”
Furthermore, he hinted: “With my wealth of experience as two time governor, Minister of Defence, and Senator, I am at a vantage position to lead the PDP and Nigeria. In the last 26 years, I have contested election 15 times and only lost twice.
“Every one can contest to get the party ticket and getting it is one thing, but the most important thing is winning the election. I am better qualify for the ticket. I am in PDP to add value and I believe it is only me that can bring this to table in all the states of the federation.
“The problem with Nigeria is that people who do not have the capacity want to be governor and president, and there is no magic one can perform in terms of governance where there is no capacity.
“If given the ticket and eventually became the president, I will not place premium on who has the capacity to do the job even though I believe in federal character,” he concluded.
Responding, Chief Dan Orbih, called for a political debate between the candidates to enable the party field the best candidate.
He assured that with the reception Kwakwaso got from the people is a sign that the state is with him.
