PDP Convention: Bode George Accuses Deputy National Secretary of Manipulating Lagos Congress Process

Former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olabode George, has accused the party’s Deputy National Secretary, Hon. Setonji Koshoedo, of sidelining the Lagos State leadership in the distribution of nomination forms for the upcoming ward and state congresses.

In a petition addressed to the Acting National Chairman, Umar Iliya Damagum, and the National Working Committee (NWC), George alleged that Koshoedo unilaterally took charge of the forms without consulting recognized party leaders in Lagos.

He described the move as “worrisome,” noting that Koshoedo had not been actively involved in the state chapter’s affairs.

George questioned why the Deputy National Secretary ignored Lagos PDP leaders, including two life members of the Board of Trustees (BOT), in deciding how the congresses would be conducted.

He also alleged that some forms were distributed to individuals who had defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and other opposition parties.

“How did he arrive at the list of people to be given nomination forms for distribution to the various Local Governments?” George asked, warning that such actions risk undermining fragile consensus-building efforts within the party.

He further accused Koshoedo of using the process to advance his alleged 2027 governorship ambition, warning that such personal interests could destabilize the party in Lagos.

“We are forced to declare him a political persona non grata in the state due to his actions. His actions are insulting, unjust, and unfair,” George said.

The PDP chieftain urged loyal members to resist any manipulation and called on the NWC to caution Koshoedo.

He stressed that the party must not repeat mistakes that, according to him, led to its worst-ever performance in the last Lagos governorship election.

George concluded by demanding that nomination forms be distributed transparently and fairly to all aspirants, warning that the public was watching and that the PDP must demonstrate fairness and accountability.

When contacted, Hon. Koshoedo declined to respond to the petition, saying only: “I have no reaction to it. I’d better keep quiet and continue in the specific job and the assignment given to me by the party headquarters.”
