PDP codes 2027 presidential ticket to the south

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has formally zoned its 2027 presidential ticket to the South.

The announcement was made in Abuja on Monday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, following the 102nd meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC).

According to Ologunagba, the decision was based on the report of the Zoning Committee led by Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri. He explained that the NEC also upheld the existing zoning formula for positions in the National Working Committee (NWC) ahead of the party’s elective convention slated for November.

“NEC resolved that the current North-South balance in the NWC should be maintained,” Ologunagba said. “With the National Chairmanship zoned to the North, the 2027 presidential ticket has now been ceded to the South.”

The NEC further commended the level of progress made in preparations for the upcoming convention.
