He remarked that the hazard of this pandemic period on police coupled with the efforts to curb crime rate and other social vices are widely noticed, as this prompted the committee to remember them at this critical moment.

“They have families at home who look upon them to return home safely, the nature of their work stand them out as the main force in the battle against the coronavirus. So as partner, we dim it fit to appreciate them with this materials at least to make them feel the sense of belonging in the society.

While appreciating national vice chairman of PCRC and his team, CP Ebrimson noted that this singular donation indicated that there are some people outside who really appreciated their work now and before.

He said: “Today is a remarkable day and eventful day to show that when you work hard, people will recognise you, you don’t need to market yourself, your actions speak volume for people to appreciate.

“What we are seeing now is a product of critical partnership with stakeholders in terms of collaboration, partnership and cooperation, and that is exactly what you are seeing display today by chairman of Adron Homes, who is the grand patron of PCRC.

“For remembering that the police are in the front line, and they have families during this lockdown, during this restriction, curfew, trying and difficult time. He has put smiles on the faces of officers.

“It is not about the quantum of what is given, but the spirit which will motivate, a morale booster and to let the police know that people care about them, people appreciate them that is what they have demonstrated today. And I appreciate this kind gesture of the chairman of the organisation, and entire executive and members of PCRC.”

In his words, Adetola emphasised that police are the number one frontliners in the battle against coronavirus. “We are doing this as there are clamours that we want more police, do we realise that they also need us. In furtherance to that that is why PCRC is being established to create a robust relationship between the public and the Nigerian police force.

“In a time like this we need to identify with them, to remember them as they are working day and night to curb the spread of COVID-19. They are not only fighting the pandemic alone, but they are also fighting crime too.

“They deserve our support to boost their morale, that is why we are here to support them in the course of duty. I want to appreciate the active and proactive of the Commissioner of Police in the state.

“CP has demonstrated his leadership by always being on duty with his boys day and night. Ogun is the gateway to Nigeria. Everybody coming to Nigeria from Lagos must pass through the state.”
