PCFRR, OSEMA Distribute Relief Materials To Flood Victims In Osun

Relief materials worth millions of naira have been distributed to victims of the 2019 flood disasters in Osun State.
The materials were distributed by the  Presidential Committee on Flood Relief and Rehabilitation (PCFRR) in collaboration with Osun State Emergency Management Agency (OSEMA) towards quick intervention programs to provide succour to the flood victims.
In a statement by the press officer OSEMA, Segilola Babalola, it was stated that the Osun State Governor, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola however commended the efforts of the PCFRR led by Alhaji Aliko Dangote for its quick intervention programs to alleviate the sufferings of the affected victims.
Governor Oyetola, ably represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Wole Oyebamiji stated this at the flag-off ceremony for the distribution of relief materials to the victims, held at the state secretariat, Abere.
 He further advised the residents to desist from dropping refuse in the drainages to avoid blocking of the water ways which can cause flooding, saying dredging of rivers will start soon across the state.
In his remarks, the Representative of the PCFRR, Titus Omoniyi disclosed that the relief materials were brought to the state in order to bring succour to the victims of various disasters that ravaged the residents of Osun in 2019. He added that the ceremony was a fallout of on the spot- assessment of the PCFRR carried out in the state last year.
He therefore listed some of the relief materials to be distributed which include mattress, food stuff, nails, roofing sheets, bags of cement and amongst.
Speaking earlier, the General Manager, OSEMA, TPL Olanipekun Olarewaju gave kudos to both federal and state governments for their concern towards the flood victims, adding that the security of lives and property of the residents were paramount to the government.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Akanji Rashidat appreciated the government for giving them the relief materials purposely to relieve their sufferings as a result of the disaster.
Highlights of the events were the distribution of the relief items to the victims of 2019 Osun flood.
