Parent sends thugs after vice principal for seizing son’s phone during WAEC
A violent incident occurred at Complete Child Development College in Akure, Ondo State, when suspected thugs attacked the school’s Vice Principal, Mr. Rotifa.
The attack was allegedly in retaliation for Rotifa’s actions in preventing a student from engaging in examination malpractice during the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
The student, caught with an android phone during the exam, had their device confiscated by Rotifa. After the student’s mother demanded the phone’s return, the situation escalated, and the student’s brother, a former student, allegedly organized a group to harass and threaten Rotifa.
When Rotifa reported the incident to the police, the situation took a turn for the worse. The assailants intercepted the police van transporting Rotifa, dragged him out, and brutally attacked him. Rotifa was hospitalized but has since been discharged and remains in hiding due to safety concerns. The Ondo State Ministry of Education has launched an investigation, assuring the public that security measures are being reinforced to protect staff and students during the remainder of the WASSCE period
