Pandemonium As Irate Youths Chase Osun Monarch Out Of Palace
Pandemonium broke out in the ancient town of Ikire, the headquarters of Irewole Local Government Area of Osun State when irate youths chased the town’s monarch, Oba Olatunde Falabi out of the palace.
The monarch was chased out along with his traditional chiefs, relations and palace guards.
The monarch and others were chased out of the palace over chieftaincy tussle concerning the stool.
It would be recalled that two ruling houses have been laying claim to the stool over court judgement.
The rampaging youths besieged the palace at around 10 o clock in the morning and as a result leaving residents of the town in palpable fear.
It was gathered that in a bid to restore peace in the area, soldiers were said to have been deployed to the palace , the development which aggravated the situation.
It was gathered that the youths were protesting non-implementation of the Supreme Court judgement which declared the continued stay of Oba Olatunde Falabi on the throne as illegal.
As at press time, security operatives have been deployed to the town to forestall further breakdown of law and order.
The supreme Court had in 2014 ruled that, it was not the turn of Oba Olatunde Falabi to be on the throne.
Same judgement was also delivered by the State High Court in Ikire about three month ago.
Speaking, Osun State Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs Yemisi Opalola confirmed the report but said the issue is traditional related issue and not related to looting of public places.
