Oyedepo recounts incident where marijuana was allegedly planted in his car

Founder of the Living Faith Church Worldwide, Bishop David Oyedepo, has shared details of a 1987 incident in Kaduna in which unknown individuals allegedly attempted to implicate him by planting marijuana in his vehicle.

In a video that surfaced on social media on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, Oyedepo narrated how the event came to light unexpectedly through his then-driver, Clifford, who had just returned from Katsina. According to him, the driver insisted on washing the car that morning and, while cleaning, removed the seat—uncovering a freshly wrapped substance hidden underneath.

“Some fellows planted marijuana in my car in 1987, in Kaduna, at the mechanical shop,” Oyedepo said. “My driver came in and said, ‘Sir, let me wash the car this morning.’ As he removed the seat, he found a freshly wrapped stuff.”

Startled, the driver rushed to report what he had found. Oyedepo said he was initially confused about the parcel, admitting that he had no prior knowledge of the substance. “He said, ‘This is wee-wee.’ I said, ‘What is wee-wee?’ I came to know Jesus early, so I didn’t know anything about such things,” he explained.

The situation became more troubling later that night when policemen stopped him on his way home and attempted to search his car. Oyedepo claimed the officers went directly to the same spot where the suspicious parcel had been placed earlier.

“That night, on my way home, a policeman who normally salutes me stopped me. I asked, ‘For what?’ He said they wanted to check. They went straight to the exact spot where that thing was kept. I said, ‘Shame on you.’ He said, ‘Sorry, sir,’” the cleric recounted.

Oyedepo described the incident as a demonstration of divine preservation and an example of how innocent individuals sometimes fall victim to malicious schemes.

“No one can keep himself. We are kept by the power of God,” he said, adding that many people are unjustly imprisoned due to the machinations of the wicked. “You will not fall victim. The earlier you know Him and walk with Him, the better.”
