“Our Electoral Process Is in Disarray”- Bode George

Former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Bode George, has expressed deep concern over the state of Nigeria’s electoral system, describing it as being in disarray.

Speaking on Wednesday, October 9, at the 9th National Annual Conference of the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP) in Lagos, George urged a comprehensive review of the electoral process to ensure credible outcomes and restore public confidence.

According to him, a truly accountable leader would work diligently for the people if they knew their re-election depended on genuine votes. However, he lamented that many politicians have become complacent, knowing they can manipulate their way back into power regardless of performance.

George, who chaired the conference themed “Reconciling Campaign Promises with Governance Realities: Challenges and Prospects,” remarked that while making campaign promises is easy, fulfilling them in governance poses serious challenges.

He acknowledged that no system is perfect but emphasized the need for Nigerians to pray for their leaders to succeed in steering the nation toward progress and stability.
