Osun Govt Donates 500 Bags Of Lime To Cat Fish Farmers, Tasks Them On Cooperative Farming

Osun State Governor, Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola has appealed to cat fish farmers to engage themselves in cooperative farming rather than individual farming as this would enable them to have access to loans.

Governor Oyetola made this appeal during the presentation of 500 bags of lime to the Osun State chapter, Cat Fish Association of Nigeria (CFAN), aimed to aid the smooth maintenance of their fishponds.

The governor, was ably represented by the Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Hon. Adedayo Adewole, at the occasion held at the GRA., Elders Club, Osogbo, the state capital.

Hon. Adewole stressed that one of the agenda of Mr. Governor was to promote all forms of agriculture business in the state. “The governor intends to work with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on how to empower farmers in the state as much as possible.

“The government is using this occasion to appeal to the farmers to engage themselves in cooperative farming rather than individual farming as this would enable them to have access to loans.”

Earlier in his remarks, Director of Federal Ministry of Agriculture Osun State office, Engr. Sunday Atoyebi urged the farmers to continue to work in harmony, saying sooner or later, oil and gas era will soon phase out while focus would now be on agriculture, just as he urged all to invest in agriculture.

Also speaking at the event, the state Chairman, CFAN, Ademola Afolabi Titus, appreciated the state government for the donation of the bags of lime through the ministry. Mr Afolabi assured the government of their readiness and cooperation with its policies.

Present at the event were Hon. Adewole; Engr. Atoyebi; Coordinating Director, Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Mrs. Adegbemisola Fayoyin; Director of Fisheries, Mr T. Babasallam; Director of Tree Crops Project, Mr. Abodunrin, and Chairman (CFAN), among others.
