Osun Government To Boost Cashew Farmers, Promises Maximum Support

Happy days are back again for cashew farmers as Osun State government has expressed its readiness to render any form of assistance solicited for by their association in the state.
Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Hon Adedayo Adewole stated this in a statement made available to Daily Dispatch by ministry press officer, Segilola Babalola, on Tuesday where he promised that the present administration led by Governor Adegboyega Oyetola will support the farmers.
Hon Adedayo, gave this assurance at a meeting with the National Cashew Association Of Nigeria (NCAN), Osun state chapter, held in his office, Osogbo.
He explained that governor Oyetola is ready to support and assist cashew farmers in the state especially in the areas of expanding and processing of cashew production depending on the way the association wants the assistance.
The commissioner, who clarified that government alone cannot provide all the needs of the association, however encouraged the cashew farmers to group themselves into cooperative societies through which they can be able to access funds in any available financial institutions for proper propagation of their cashew business.
Hon Adedayo hereby counselled them not to think as individuals, but as a team in order to move the association forward.
Moreover, the Chairman, National Association of Cashew Farmers, Osun State chapter, Alhaji Safiriyu Ola- Aremu, in his remarks appealed to the commissioner to connect them through the apparatus of state government to relevant stakeholders so that they can have the attention of the federal government to have access to international market and at the same time secure federal government agric loan for their members.
In the same vein, Adegbite Olaiya from Ejigbo local government urged the state government to site a local factory in the state where their members can process their products, and also generate revenue for the state. He also appealed to the state government to provide access road to their farms.
