Osun Commissioner Applauds Olam Industries For Donating Relief Packages

Olam Industries Nigeria Limited have been commended for donating relief packages to Osun State Government as part of its contribution towards cushioning the harsh effect of COVID 19 pandemic lockdown in the state.

The company in its magnanimity donated food items and other materials which included two trailer loads of indomie noodles, face masks and sanitizers.

Osun State Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Hon. Adedayo Adewole made this commendation while receiving the relief items from the company on behalf of the state government at the OSICOL warehouse, Osogbo.

Hon Adewole, clarified that the donated items which included two trailer loads of indomie noodles, face masks and sanitizers were not part of the palliative provided by the 21-Man Food and Relief Committee.

He stated that Olam Industries has demonstrated its goodwill and corporate social responsibility by giving back to the state that has partnered the company through the ministry.

However, he used the occasion to appeal other corporate bodies, and well meaning individuals to emulate the good gesture of Olam Industries, just as he charged citizens not to relent in adhering strictly to the precautions against the spread of COVID-19 in the state.

Speaking earlier, the state branch Controller of Olam Industries, Mr. Bhawani Singh, applauded Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola-led administration for fighting the spread of COVID 19 tooth and nail and for setting up a 21-Man Food and Relief Committee to combat the hardship of lockdown.

He remarked that the state government has done a lot for the company through the approval given for grading cocoa and palm kernel produce under the Department of Produce Services, Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, adding that it has become morally necessary to give back to the state at this trying period.

Similarly, Commissioner for Health, Dr. Rafiu Isamotu accompanied by the Director, Primary Health Care and Disease Control, Dr. Gbenga Adepoju, said he was at the occasion to receive the sanitizers and face masks donated by the company for the use of frontline health workers and members of the state tasks force committee on COVID-19.

He hereby urged citizens to continue obeying the lockdown rules as well as the precautions against the spread of COVID 19 in the state.
