Osinbajo withhold assent of four bills
The Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo has withheld assent to four bills forwarded to him by the National Assembly.
President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki made the disclosure while reading a letter from the acting President during Wednesday’s plenary.
According to the letter, Osinbajo spotted various administrative hiccups on the bills passed into law.
The Bills include, Dangerous Drugs bill, National Agricultural Credit Scheme, National Lottery Commission as amended, and Currency conversion Act.
“Distinguished Senate President, you are aware of pending litigation against Nigeria Lottery Commission which was not supposed to be legislated upon until liquidation of the case”, the letter reads.
In his reaction, Senator representing Kogi West, Dino Melaye warned that the Executive was gradually taking away the powers of NASS to legislate, insisting that it should not be allowed.
