Egba-Obafemi Community Grammar School (EOCGS) old students association have passionately appealed to the Ogun State Government to come to the aid of the school, which fortune is going down the drain.
The body made the appeal at the end of the National Executive Council(NEC) meeting held in Abeokuta, lamenting that, the infrastructure of the 40 year old school, which is located in Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area has remained an eyesore.
The ex-students also regretted that, virtually all the classrooms are in dilapidated condition, and equally lack needed academic equipment, as well as shortage of teachers and non teaching staff
In the same vein, the almnus noted that, it is worrisome that, the school has just six teachers responsible for teaching in classes with arms between JSS 1 to SSS2.
The association in a communique at the end of the meeting issued by the General Secretary, Liafis Aina and Dimeji Kayode-Adedeji(Public Relations Officer) also lamented the low turn out of students in the school following the ugly development.
However, the former students, pledged that on their own, they were prepared to contribute their own quota to the development of the school by supporting the government, which by law own the college.
The body also noted that, another major factor discouraging teachers to work in the school was the bad state of the road leading to the town, where the school is located.
The communique, therefore, enjoined the state government to also address the problem confronting the road over 15 years ago, stressing that going and coming out from the town, was better described as hell on earth
Meanwhile, all efforts to get reaction of the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Modupe Mujota proved abortive
