OGUN VIGILANTE BOSS WARN OFFICERS AGAINST LEAKAGE OF SECURITY INFORMATION

The leadership of Vigilante Service of Ogun State(VSO) on Monday cautioned its men in ensuring that information which comes into their possession are treated with utmost confidentiality, and not use for personal benefit.
The Commander of the security outfit, Soji Ganzallo made this clear at orientation programme for the unit Commanders of Local Governments and Council Development Areas held at Vigilante Academy in Ilaro.
Ganzallo who delived lecture titled,’Making the VSO an Household Name in Community Policing’,stressed that such information should not be divulged to other parties except in the proper course of vigilante duty.
‘Members should respect information about Vigilante policy and operations as confidential unless authorised to disclose it in the course of their duties’,he said.
The Vigilante boss also enlightened his members, to engage in collaboration with police and other security agencies in combating,preventing and curbing crimes in the state and environs.
In similar vein, he said vigilante has role in providing information to the police and other security agencies on criminals and their activities within the communities,stressing further that they should cooperate with sister security agencies in protecting public establishments,plants and equipments.
He also charge them to discover any permanent or temporary hideouts of criminals engage in fraudulent activities,drug trafficking and other criminalities,just as he reminded them of the mission of the service which is to help secure a safe and just society in which the rights and responsibilities of individuals,families and communities are properly safeguarded.
‘We must be compassionate,courteous and patient,acting without fear or favour or prejudice to the rights of others. We need to be professional,calm and restrained in the face of violence and apply only that force which is necessary to accomplish our lawful duty’,Ganzallo told his officers.
