OGUN UPN SACKS CHAIRMAN OVER TAX FRAUD, ANTI PARTY ACTIVITIES

Ogun State Chapter of Unity Party of Nigeria,(UPN),has announced the suspension of it Chairman, Mrs Irede Oginni over alleged tax fraud and anti-party activities.
This was made known Monday at a press conference held at Onikolobo headquarters of the party,in Abeokuta,the state capital.
Secretary of the party,Alhaji Moruf Popoola who was accompanied by Aminat Olatubosun(Chairman Disciplinary Committee) and Babatunde Folarin(national leader) said the party Disciplinary Committee found Ogini guilty after investigation.
He said the committee founded the suspended chairman to have collected money from twenty-eight candidates of the party, and could not give account.
‘Twelve candidates and former personal assistant to the respondent testified that the respondent collected the money from them and no receipt was given to them’,Popoola said.
The party scribe said when Ogini was confronted with the allegation of defrauding the candidates to the tune of N1.2million,she pleaded guilty,hence, she was suspended in accordance with the provision of party constitution.
In the same vein, the party said,Oginni was also found guilty of romancing with opposition party,adding that,one of his text messages of her romance with another party chieftain was uncovered.
The party said on interrogation by the committee, Oginni admitted the message was erroneously sent by her 10 year old daughter,identified as Favour Oginni.
‘In accordance to the provision of UPN constitution page 29,article B,under bad behaviour and page 29,article C under punishment,we recommended for her removal from office with immediate effect’
He also disclosed that part of the committee’s recommendations was to make refund of the tax money by her,to protect her name and the integrity of the party,and should not be allowed to hold any party post for the next one year.
The recommendations were issued by Dina Adewale(Vice Chairman,Disciplinary Committee), Adekunle Kamar(Member),Olaleye Abel(Member) and Wasiu Oluaye(Member)
When contacted,the embattled Chairman, Irene Ogini said the suspension holds no water,insisting that,she remain the authentic party chairman in the state.
‘They have no power to suspend,they are not exco of the party, and it is only the congress which has such power. I don’t even know those behind the fake suspension order. It is blackmail, and I may even take them to court. And I am saying boldy,am still the chairman of the party’,Oginni declared
