OGUN TRAINS 3,000 N-POWER BENEFICIARIES ON RUDIMENT OF TEACHINGS

Ogun State Government on Friday disclosed that it has trained 3,000 N-Power Teachers on basic rudiments of teaching methodology needed to sustain the standard of effective teaching and learning in line with the standard of education in the State.
The  Chairman, Teaching Service Commission, TESCOM, Mrs Olabosipo Ogunsan,made this disclosure at the opening of a 2-day training workshop with the theme: “Integrating Professionalism into Classrooms in Ogun State Public Secondary Schools”, which took place at the Lisabi Grammar School, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta.
She added that the the training became imperative in order to integrate the new set of intended classroom teachers to the basic knowledge, skills and values  set out to impart and align them with teaching professionalism for better results.
Her words “Permit me to state that teaching is a highly rated profession and the practitioners should be well equipped strategically. Intending teachers should always have it at the back of their mind that the profession is not for the dregs and the mission of the State Government is to ensure a pragmatic approach to teaching and learning process, which has indeed underscored professional development that includes high-quality content tailored to the needs of students as well as to build the capacity of our teachers,”.
The Tescom boss  uderscored the essence of the training that covered the cognitive, affective and the psychomotor domains of learning so as to achieve effective classroom management, psychology of learning and child development, ethics and values as well as language and reading.
She explained that the N- Power Teachers were employed and posted  to  Public Scondary Schools in the state under the Federal Government employment generation programme  tagged ” N- POWER TEACH”, saying that the programme aimed at bridging the gap of unemployment among our teeming youths.
  ” I must used this opportunity to appreciate the President Mohammed Buhari – led administration for the conceptualization of this programme which is aimed at bridging the gap of unemployment among our teeming youths in the country”,Ogunsan stated.
 In their separate remarks, President, All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools, ANCOPSS,  Ebenezer Ogundele  and his counterpart from Academic Staff Union of Senior Secondary Schools, ASUSS, Mr Akeem Lasisi said it behoves on teachers to give back to the society by imparting good and purposeful knowledge to the students.
They urged the N-Power Teachers to see the exercise as an integral purpose of relating ethical, methodological and classroom control over the students.
Similarly,duo of the participants, Mrs Tolulope Ayefele and Mrs Alaba Afuye appreciated the state government for the training exercise that would enrich and equip them for the task ahead urging their colleagues to make judicious use of  acquired  skills in their respective schools.
