Ogun SWAN/Oba Akamo T/Tennis Tourney Ends Tuesday

The maiden edition of Ogun SWAN/Oba Akamo Table Tennis Tournament will come to an end tomorrow, Tuesday at the indoor hall, Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Iwe Iroyin, Abeokuta.
The two days tournament was sponsored by Oba Abdul-Fatai Akorede Akamo, Olu of Itori in collaboration with the Sports Writers Association of Nigerian (SWAN), Ogun State chapter.
The tournament which serves -off on Monday, September 28th, 2020 featured 16 sports writers from various chapels and associate members while supporters from these chapels thronged the hall to cheer their players to victory.
However, in the semifinal matches slated for tomorrow, Rafiu Alarape of Consolidated Chapel has a date with Hakeem Adegbenro of Federated Chapel in the first match to determine who will progress to the final.
Also, the second semifinal will involve Abiodun Jimoh of Daily Dispatch newspaper, representing SWAN Associate and SWAN Chairman, Hakeem Akintunde of OGTV.
Moreover, in the quarterfinal matches played on day one, Alarape of Consolidated Chapel beat Lekan Agbonde of NTA by two straight sets of 11/4, 11/4 while Adegbenro of Federated Chapel eliminated Bayo Adegboyega of OGBC Chapel in two straight sets too.
The other quarterfinals between Akintunde of OGTV and SWAN Secretary, Michael Azeez-Ogunsiji of Federated Chapel ended in two straight sets in favour of the former, just as Jimoh of SWAN Associate retired Jonathan Adekunle of Paramount FM Chapel by same sets too.
Meanwhile, the sponsor of the tournament, Oba Abdul-Fatai Akorede Akamo, Olu of Itori is expected to lead other dignitaries to the closing ceremony billed for 3pm on Tuesday.
According to a press release by the SAWN Secretary, Azeez-Ogunsiji stated that all the four semifinalists would be branded with the tournament commemorative T-shirts while the champion will go home with the trophy and cash prize.
Similarly, he affirmed that the first and second runner-up will also go home with mouth-watering cash prize as well.
