Ogun prioritise welfare of journalists
Ogun State prioritizes the welfare of journalists, according to the State’s Head of Service, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya.
He revealed that Governor Dapo Abiodun consistently places the well-being of journalists at the forefront of his considerations, often intervening to support them in critical situations ¹.
Onasanya made these remarks at the inaugural empowerment program for families of deceased journalists in Ogun State.
He emphasized the importance of ensuring journalists’ welfare, citing the numerous challenges they face, including occupational hazards, job insecurity, and poor remuneration.
The Ogun State government has demonstrated its commitment to supporting journalists, with Governor Abiodun providing financial assistance to families of deceased journalists and settling hospital bills for sick journalists.
Onasanya commended the Oniroyin Support Initiative for organizing the empowerment program and urged stakeholders to support the initiative. The program aims to provide succor to families of deceased journalists and support journalists in need.
