OGUN POLICE KILLED TWO HIGHWAY ARMED ROBBERS,ARREST FLEEING GANG MEMBER

Two highway armed robbers were on Friday shot dead while a fleeing member of the gang was also arrested by the Ogun State Police Command.
The Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Ilyasu while parading corpses of the robbers and arrested member to journalists at Police Area Command,Ijebu-Ode said nemesis caught up with them at Area J4 of the Sagamu-Benin-Ore expressway.
He said in the early hour of Friday, police at Ogbere division received a distress call about a group of armed bandits who blocked the expressway at J4 area in other to rob commuters plying the road.
‘Upon the distress call the acting DPO of the station S.P John Okon led his anti-robbery men to the scene where they met the robbers dispossessing commuters of their valuables’,Ilyasu stated.
The Commissioner who was accompanied by Head of Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad,FSARS,(Ogun State) Adams Uba, said the bandits on sighting policemen opened fire which was repeled by superiority firearms of police.
‘At the end of the encounter,two members of the dreaded syndicate were gunned down and one was arrested alive,while others escaped with various degrees of gunshot injuries’,he said.
Ilyasu said the victims were rescued unhurt,adding that,the authority had already launched serious manhunt for the escaped members of the gang.
He disclosed that,exhibits recovered from the bandits include;one single barrel gun,one mobile phone,a carton of car sound protector.
The police boss,however, appealed to members of the public,especially hospitals and other health workers to inform the police if anybody with gunshot wound is seen around their areas.
‘The command is determined and resolute in its war against crime and criminality who dare come to Ogun State for the purpose of committing crime will be crushed’,the commissioner declared
