OGUN POLICE ARREST HUSBAND WHO CHAINED WIFE TO GENERATING SET

A 37 year old husband,Ifeanyi Ajaero has landed himself in trouble for allegedly tying his wife(Obiageli) to a generating set, as a punishment measure.
The Ogun State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi told our correspondent on Saturday that the suspect has been arrested.
He said the incident happened at the couple home in Ewuuluwo area of Sagamu town,adding that the suspect who was a member of the disbanded merchant navy used handcuff to chain the 28 year old wife, to generating set after beating her mercilessly.
‘Ogun State Police Command has arrested one Ifeanyi Ajaero ‘m’ 37 for tying his 28yrs old wife Obiageli Ajaero to a generator set till day break after she has been seriously battered’,he stated.
‘The incident happened at Ewooluwo Sagamu in Sagamu local government area of the state. The suspect who is a member of the already disbanded merchant Navy used an hand cuff to chain his wife who has become so weak as a result of serious beaten from the wicked husband’,Oyeyemi added.
The police said people in the neighborhood, who have been witnessing frequent beaten of the wife by the suspect alerted the police of the latest happening consequent upon which the Divisional Police Officer Sagamu Aduroja Moses led his men to the scene, rescued the victim and got the suspect arrested.
‘On interrogation, he admitted chaining the woman to generator, but he claimed that his action is for self defence’,the police spokesman said.
He added that,the Commissioner of Police Ahmed Iliyasu who described the action of the suspect as height of wickedness has ordered the immediate transfer of the case to Anti Human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the State Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and prosecution.
‘The Commissioner of Police therefore warned residents of the state that the command will not tolerate any act of domestic violence no matter who is involved’,he emphasised.
