Ogun Police Arrest 5-man Cross Border Robbery Gang After Attacking Magistrate

Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 5-man cross border robbery gang who allegedly robbed a Chief Magistrate in Abeokuta,the state capital
The Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Ilyasu made thiis known while parading the suspects at Eleweran Police Headquarters in Abeokuta.
The suspects were also alleged to caused the death of a youth corper during their operation at Olokuta area of the town.
He gave names of the suspects, who are nationals of Cameroon,Chad and Niger Republic as include; Abdullahi Hassan,Memud Aruna,Ismaila Abba,Ahmed Yusuf and Abbas Garba.
The commissioner said, the suspects after arrest confessed to have robbed Mrs Oriyomi Sofowora,a Chief Magistrate Court 1,Isabo,nAbeokuta and one Pastor Abatan,Head of Redeem Church Education unit at their respective residence in the town.
Ilyasu added further that the suspects were in disguise employed as security guards at various homes,but at night they assembled to rob in neighborhoods within Abeokuta metropolis.
He said luck ran against the suspects while they were planning to carry out another operation at Idi-Aba area of Abeokuta
‘At about 2205hrs,inforation received that a gang of armed robbers whose syndicates are from neighbouring countries that share border with Nigeria,were planning to carry out another operation at Idi-Aba area of Abeokuta’
‘Acting on this information,a raid was carried out on their hideout and five suspects were arrested. During interrogation,they all confessed to have robbed one Mrs Sofoowora,who is the Chief Magistrate Court 1,Isabo,Abeokutaa and one Pastor Abatan,the head of Redeem Church Education unit at their respective residence in Abeokuta’
The police boss said exhibits recovered from the suspects include; 3 pump action guns,five live catrdiges,one cutter and two jack knives.
