Ogun IPAC Elections: Comrade Adebola, Esa emerge chairman, secretary

The new executive members of the Inter-Party Advisory Council of Nigeria (IPAC), Ogun State chapter that will pilot the affairs of the council for the next twelve months have been sworn-in on Wednesday.
The elections initially scheduled for Tuesday was postponed to Wednesday by the IPAC National Officers led by Dr. Yinusa Tanko, National Chairman of National Conscience Party (NCP) who was to conduct the elections due to security reason, as some aggrieved members were bent on causing disharmony at the INEC Secretariat, Magbon, Abeokuta.
Moreover, the aggrieved members who came in large numbers on Wednesday met sizeable security men on ground thus prevented any acts of destabilising the elections proceedings, while accreditation of voters lasted for hours due to maturity and experience of the national officers, who handled the scenario.
Also, the presence of the Ogun State INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Professor Olayinka Raji, ably represented by Olatunji Azeez, administrative secretary as well as other staff proved their unalloyed support for the peace of the elections.
After thorough screening, a total of 79 political parties were accredited for the elections, and it commenced few minutes to four at noon after all voters have been fully satisfied and assured of peaceful conduct of the elections devoid of rancour and acrimony.
With this development, a new dawn has been set as the crisis rocking the council in the last few months was finally laid to rest as eleven out of thirteen positions were duly elected after accreditation of voters.
At the end of the elections that lasted till evening, Comrade Adeshina Adebola of Mega Party (MP), polled 44 votes to beat Abayomi Sanyaolu of Democratic Alliance (DA) whose total votes gathered was 35.
The secretary position, being the administrative and engine room of the council was won by Comrade Esa Ayodele of ANDP, having polled total votes of 39, while nine votes were counted for his challenger, Hon. Prince Ogunwolu.
Other winners were Adeshina Abraham as deputy chairman one; Patrick Mohammed Eromobo as deputy chairman two; Hassan Olakunle as treasurer; Olayinka Adewunmi as deputy secretary;, and Adeyemi Alli as financial secretary.
Also, Dr. Bolaji Olowo emerged as organising and welfare officer; Sunkanmi Kamilu as publicity secretary; Olalekan Amoo won as youths policy adviser, while Olufunke emerged as the state audit control officer.
However, the position of legal adviser and gender and disability adviser were not contested as there were no candidates to contest these posts.
In his acceptance speech, the chairman, Comrade Adebola thanked all members for their calmness and spirit of sportsmanship exhibited throughout the electioneering.
Similarly, he commended the gallant displayed and leadership quality demonstrated by the national officers led by Dr. Tanko and INEC officials for a organising a hitch free elections that produced clear winners in various offices.
In the same vein, Comrade Ayodele expressed his determination to bring his wealth of experience to enhance day to day running of activities in the council.
He added that he would administer the office with all due diligence and in accordance with the constitution of the council, and to ensure that proper documentations of council activities are adhered to.
“I will not disappoint rue confidence reposed on me as the secretary of this council. I will manage the administrative section with the fear of God. Bring about unity and appropriate dissemination of information to all members without discrimination. We are all one IPAC in Ogun State,” he opined.
