Ogun Government Reiterates Commitment To Quality Education

Knowing for its academic excellent, Ogun State government has reiterated her commitment towards the development of quality education across the state.
The state Governor, Prince Dapo Abidoun stated this at the 2020 National Association Of Ogun State Students (NAOSS) National Inauguration/Swearing -In Ceremony and Investiture ceremony held at Iwe Irohin, Abeokuta.
Governor Abiodun, ably represented by his Special Assistant on Students Affairs, Comrade Azeez Adeyemi remarked that his administration is laying a solid foundation for quality education as well as building a new model for unparalleled standard of education in the state.
The governor recalled that in the last ten months, his administration has demonstrated seriousness in changing the fortunes of education and solving the mirages of challenges confronting the sector.
“This administration is not unaware of the fact that education is the bedrock of any meaningful development in the society, therefore, we will not relent in our efforts to improve the standard of education.
“Before we assumed office, education was nothing to write home about. Primary and secondary schools were totally abandoned, while tertiary education was almost shut down.
“The crisis that almost destroyed Tai Solarin College Of Education (TASCE), Omu Ijebu and Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta are still fresh in our memories. Academic activities were grounded for more than one year in these citadel of learning.
Furthermore, the governor stated that since assuming office, his administration has embarked on the rehabilitation of primary and secondary schools in the 236 wards of the state as a major fears of his administration in the education sector.
He therefore congratulated the newly inaugurated Excos of NAOSS, while commending the students for complying with the government’s ban on gatherings of people not more than 50 as a precautionary measures to contain the spread of the deadly Corona virus in the state.
Similarly, the newly sworn-in president of NAOSS, Comrade Olugbemileke Ogunrombi in his speech hereby appealed to the governor to promptly pay their bursary across board and give scholarship to both outstanding and indigent students of the state.
Comrade Ogunrombi stated: “To mention about the disdain of this constituency by the past administration is tantamount to repeating the obvious. To also recall that the last time we got out dues was over six years would further break our hearts. We therefore appeal for a permanent place in the good book of this administration.
“We passionately appeal to the governor to inaugurate Professor Sidi Osho as soon as possible. We openly pass our vote of confidence on her. She has shown over time to be God fearing, and God has continually lifted her well above her critics.
“To our constituency, Omo Ogun, we are pleased to unveil the faces of the executives that would be paddling the affairs of this association in this political year.”
Meanwhile, the highlight of the event was the investiture of Dr. Teniola Adesanya, CEO, Oxford Group Nigeria Limited, as the Patron of NAOSS National body just as other members of the Association were also inaugurated.
