Ogun Command Kills One Robber, Others Escaped With Injuries

Men of the Ogun State Police Command on the early hour of Monday November 9th, 2020 shot dead an armed robbery suspect, while others escaped with gun shot injuries.
DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, Police Public Relations Officer, Police, Ogun State Command confirmed this in a press release issued to newsmen in Abeokuta in Tuesday, November 10th, 2020.
He revealed that this was made possible following a distress call received by police at Ikenne Divisional headquarters at about 5 00 am. that a group of armed robbers had blocked road along Olabiro steet in Ikenne and dispossessing people of their valuables at gun point.
Oyeyemi said: “Upon the distress call, the DPO Ikenne division, CSP Noukauba Onuma quickly mobilised his patrol team and moved to the scene.
“On sighting the policemen, the hoodlums engaged them in gun battle which lasted for about 30 minutes at the end of which one of the hoodlums was shot dead while others escaped with various degree of gun shot injuries.
“Recovered from the dead robber are: one cut to size locally made gun, one live cartridge and one expended cartridge.
“Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police (CP), Edward Awolowo Ajogun has praised his men for their display of gallantry, he therefore warned that this should be a warning signal to any would be criminal who are deluding themselves that police are not working again to have a rethink as the command will go to any length in protecting the good people of Ogun state.
“He also directed that the fleeing members of the gang be hunted for and brought to justice within the shortest possible time.
