Ogun Civil Defence Corps Seek Collaboration With Students Leadership To Fight Cultism

Ogun State Command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps,(NSCDC), on Friday sought for collaboration with students union in the state to jointly fight cultism.
The request was made by Provost College for Security Management, Commandant Rachael Awosusi, when when the leadership of the National Association of Nigerians Students (NANS) presented an award of excellence to one of her officers, Deputy Commandant Babatunde Alabi in Abeokuta
She posited that such collaboration would allso addressed other forms of social vices in the nation’s higher institutions,stresssing that the collaboration would assist in getting first hand information about activities of cultists in the campuses and subsequently curbing such.
The commandant expressed the readiness of the college towards ensuring a peaceful environment of learning through close monitoring of students’ activities.
Awosusi urged the student union leaders to always carry security agencies along in their dealings to forestall any form of violence.
Her words “At this period of insecurity such as kidnapping and student unrest, there is need for us (NSCDC) as a body to partner with the representatives of students’
She added “By so doing, we will get closer to the students and get first hand information about what the students are doing and the long run, we will be able to be more proactive in discharging our duties and responsibilities’
National Vice President in Charge of Special Duties, for the students body,Comrade Oloyede Oriyomi,in his remark identified the need for students’ union leaders to undergo courses on security so as to avoid violence in their dealings.
The students leader stated that the student organisation would come up with collaborative proposals with the college which other students can benefit from.
Oriyomi added that the NANS would also partner with responsible and well-meaning Nigerians towards curbing the spate of insecurity across the country.
The awardee, Babatunde Alabi, who is the Deputy Commandant of the college commended the student body for the award and dedicate it to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps,NSCDC.
Alabi said that the award would encourage him to rededicate himself to the service of his fatherland.
