Ogun 2027: Two Ogun Central Monarchs Endorse Adeola Yayi, Balogun

Two prominent traditional rulers in Ogun Central Senatorial District have endorsed the governorship ambition of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, and his running mate, Alhaja Kudirat Adegunwa-Balogun.

The royal fathers, the Osile Oke-Ona Egba, Oba (Dr.) Adedapo Tejuosho, and the Olubara of Ibara, Oba Jacob Omolade, gave their blessings during separate courtesy visits by Adeola and Balogun to their palaces in Abeokuta.

The monarchs commended Adeola for facilitating infrastructure projects across Ogun State, particularly road construction and solar-powered streetlights, describing his interventions as visible contributions to the development of their communities.

Oba Tejuosho also acknowledged Adeola’s annual goodwill gestures to him, noting that despite their limited physical meetings over the years, the senator had consistently remembered him during Christmas.

“I am sure we have not met physically for more than two or three occasions. But for the past 10 years I always get your Christmas hampers and look forward to an opportunity to thank you. I appreciate your gesture,” the monarch said.

He urged his chiefs to continue supporting Adeola, whom he described as a son with maternal links to Oke-Ona Egba.

The monarch also appealed to Adeola to facilitate the rehabilitation of the link road between Ijemo and Ake Centenary Hall, a request the APC candidate accepted.

Speaking at the occasion, the Osi of Egbaland, High Chief Bode Mustapha, said Adeola had performed exceptionally well in his various public offices since beginning his political journey about 13 years ago.

He expressed confidence that Adeola would deliver outstanding performance if elected governor.
The President-General of the Ogun State Baales Council, Baale Tunji Falola, also said more than 3,000 Baales across the state had endorsed Adeola based on his development initiatives and support for traditional institutions.

Falola cited Adeola’s donation of a new bus to the Baales Council as part of his gestures towards the traditional rulers.

At the Olubara’s palace, Oba Omolade reaffirmed his longstanding support for the emergence of a Yewa person as governor of Ogun State.

The 94-year-old monarch, a retired Permanent Secretary, said Adeola’s emergence as the APC candidate was consistent with the principles of equity and justice, adding that the senator’s record of performance would strengthen his chances at the 2027 poll.

He recalled the jubilation in his palace when Adeola emerged as the APC governorship candidate.
Responding, Adeola thanked the monarchs, chiefs and other traditional leaders for their support and blessings, promising not to take their confidence in his candidacy for granted.

The senator pledged that, if elected governor, he would ensure that resources and opportunities belonging to Ogun State remained within the state and were deployed for its development.

Adeola also dismissed what he described as attempts by his political opponents to distract the electorate with issues of origin and alleged falsehoods.

“My opponents have nothing to offer or counter my development strides across the state and are now resorting to frivolity of origin and lies. I am from Ogun State from my mother and father side. I remain focused on my goal and will not join them in their frivolities and lies,” he said.

Adeola was accompanied during the visits by the Minister of State for Health and Social Services, Dr. Isiaq Kunle Salako; Ogun State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Ganiyu Hamzat; Commissioner for Forestry, Hon. Oludotun Taiwo; and Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Hon. Laolu Olabimtan.
