Ogun 2027: Olowu Backs Adeola Yayi

….Bestows ‘Are Bobatolu’ Title On Him

The Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Oba (Prof.) Saka Adeola Matemimola, has endorsed the governorship aspiration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in Ogun State, Senator Solomon Adeola Yayi, ahead of the 2027 election.

According to a statement by Chief Kayode Odunaro, Chairman, Media and Publicity Committee of the APC Campaign Council, the monarch gave the endorsement when Adeola, alongside his running mate, Alhaja Kudirat Abiodun Adegunwa-Balogun, visited his palace in Abeokuta, Ogun Central Senatorial District.

Oba Matemimola, who described development as a priority for any traditional ruler, commended Adeola for his infrastructure and development initiatives across Ogun Central, including projects executed within the Owu Kingdom.

The monarch subsequently conferred on the senator the traditional title of “Are Bobatolu of Owu Kingdom,” citing his development efforts and his promises to do more if elected governor.

“I am a lover of development and impacting on the lives of my people. That was the reason for the establishment of the Olowu Hope Initiatives, which is impacting on 200,000 people daily,” the monarch said.

He added that he was aware of Adeola’s development efforts in his senatorial district and other parts of Ogun State, including Owu Kingdom.
Also speaking, the Osi of Egbaland, High Chief Bode Mustapha, said he and other Egba leaders, including former Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Tunji Egbetokun, had supported Adeola’s political journey for about 13 years based on their conviction that he could govern the state.

Mustapha expressed confidence that Adeola would deliver positive development if elected governor.

The Towulade of Akinale Owu, Oba Oluseyi Adediran, also affirmed Adeola’s capacity to govern Ogun State, citing the senator’s completion of a two-kilometre critical link road in his area.

Speaking earlier, Adeola said he was not a stranger to the palace, having consistently identified with development initiatives of the Owu people, adding that he visited to seek royal blessings and support for his governorship aspiration.

He also pledged to partner with the Olowu Hope Initiatives to expand its impact on residents of the state.
