Ogun 2027: Adeola Yayi Promises Peaceful Transition, Continuity of Abiodun’s Legacy
The senator representing Ogun West Senatorial District, Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, has pledged to sustain the culture of peaceful and consensus-driven political transition in Ogun State ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
High Chief Kayode Odunaro, Media Adviser to Senator Adeola CON, disclosed this in a statement he issued Thursday evening.
Adeola, who was presented as the consensus governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Ogun State, made the pledge during the APC Ogun Central Senatorial District Stakeholders and Strategic Meeting where he was again unveiled and affirmed by Governor Dapo Abiodun.

In his acceptance speech, the chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations commended Governor Abiodun for what he described as remarkable contributions to the socio-economic and political development of the state. He assured party members that if elected governor in 2027, he would consolidate on the administration’s achievements while promoting rancour-free political engagement across the state.
“I am very conscious of the honour done to me with my historic emergence as the consensus candidate of the ruling party in our dear state. I will not take it for granted and will work assiduously to sustain it in the years ahead,” Adeola stated.
The lawmaker noted that his first endorsement as consensus candidate came from APC leaders and caucuses in Ogun Central, adding that it was significant that another affirmation had taken place in the district, which he described as his maternal origin.
He also disclosed plans to embark on a thank-you tour of all the 74 wards in Ogun Central following the party’s primary election.
Speaking earlier, Governor Abiodun recounted the statewide endorsement of Adeola as the APC consensus candidate and his subsequent unveiling in Ogun East and Ogun West. He said Ogun Central was now affirming the party’s candidate in preparation for victory in the 2027 elections.
The governor also presented the incumbent senator representing Ogun Central, Shuaib Afolabi Salisu, as the consensus senatorial candidate for the district, describing him as a loyal and hardworking party member.
Abiodun urged residents of Ogun State and APC supporters to continue backing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, citing the President’s support for the state and his reform agenda. According to the governor, the achievements recorded by his administration over the past seven years have positioned Ogun as one of the fastest-growing economies among Nigerian states.
Among dignitaries present at the event were the Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Noimot Salako-Oyedele; former deputy governor, Segun Adesegun; Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Daisi Elemide; and members of the House of Representatives including Olumide Osoba and Kunle Isiaka.
Others included former Speakers of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Titi Oseni-Shodunke, Tunji Egbetokun, and Olakunle Oluomo, as well as Akeem Amosun and Bukola Olopade.
