Ogun 2019: Amosun rallies Yewa, Egba Obas, elders against injustice to Yewa/Aworis

The ripples caused by the selection of Dapo Abiodun as the gubernatorial candidate of the ruling party in Ogun State, the All Progressive Congress, APC, appears to have brought unity among the leaders of note in Egba and Yewa/Aworis with firm resolution to work together and do whatever it takes to assist and support the enthronement someone from Yewa/Awori as the next governor of Ogun State

Alternativeafrica.com understands that at the heart of that relationship is the governor of Ogun State, Ibikunle Amosun who has insisted that only someone from Ogun West, comprising mainly of the Yewas and Aworis will succeed him.

One of the ways to convince President Buhari to step into the crisis in Ogun APC is to get the Obas and elders of Egba and Yewa/ Awori to work together and take  a common stand, publicly back Amosun’s anointed and consensus candidate of Ogun APC, Adekunle Akinlade.

Alternativeafrica.com was reliably informed that some of the Obas and elders have held a closed door meeting with the governor where they were told that except that happens, there may be little left to ensure that Yewa/Awori realise their ambition of producing a governor in the state.

As a prelude to that public declaration, governor Amosu led a delegation comprising the Alake of Egbaland and Chairman, Ogun State Council of Obas, Oba Oludotun Aremu Gbadebo, the Olu of Ilaro and paramount ruler of Yewaland, HRM Oba Kehinde Olugbenle and a former Minister of State for Education, a prominent Yewa elder, Senator Iyabo Anisulowo to seek audience with president Buhari on Sunday, October 21, 2018

Aside pledging allegiance to the second term ambition of the president, they also reconciled the two old friends, Amosun and Buhari whose relationship has come under serious strain recently over malicious rumour that Amosun was planning dump APC over the crisis in Ogun APC.

They equally told the president about the arrangement in Ogun and the general consensus of all senatorial zones of the need to ensure fairness in the governance of the state as the main reason why APC in the state zoned the governorship ticket to Ogun West.

They told president Buhari that it would be a great injustice to allow someone from Ijebu/Remo to rule Ogun state again after Otunba Gbenga Daniel from the same zone when Yewa/Awori is yet to produce a democratically elected governor of the state since creation in 1976

Though our source refused to disclose what the president told the delegation, it is understood that the president intends to seek advice from his legal team on how to go about the debacle before making a commitment. but Alternativeafrica.com understands that President Buhari is very sympathetic to the cause of the Yewa/Aworis after hearing from the delegation.
