OGPWA hires FG’s van for roads maintenance
By ABIODUN JIMOH, ABEOKUTA
Ogun State Public Works Agency (OGPWA), has resorted to hiring of Federal Government vehicle to embark on palliative measures on roads in Abeokuta metropolis.
The agency in its bid to ensure proper maintenance of roads and adjourning streets despite lack of tools to work resorted to hiring of a white Toyota Hiace van (number plate withheld) belonging to the federal government to transport granite, cement and other items to the venues where mini repairs are currently going on.
Daily Dispatch on Wednesday sighted the said FG vehicle where it was being used to offload working items as well as to evacuate debris initially cleared from the drainage at Ibara housing estate, Abeokuta.
Information gathered from one of the workers at the site revealed that the agency lacks adequate vehicle to carry out the needed repairs across the metropolis, but had no choice rather than to use the vehicle at their disposal.
“We do not have vehicle to do the work for now, but the work must be carried out, that was why we are using federal government van to do the work. It was hired by one of our masters in the office.
“We have been using this vehicle since, but I don’t know the cost arrangement for hiring it on daily basis. Only my oga can tell you that,” the source confirmed.
