Obi Vows to Defend His 2027 Mandate

…. Rejects Repeat of IREV Glitches

Former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has declared that he is prepared to defend his votes in the 2027 general elections, urging his supporters to remain vigilant throughout the electoral process.

Obi, who spoke while addressing supporters ahead of the 2027 elections, said he would not allow what he described as irregularities associated with the 2023 election to be repeated.

He specifically referenced the glitches experienced with the Independent National Electoral Commission’s Results Viewing Portal (IREV), which was introduced to enhance transparency in the electronic transmission and viewing of election results.

The former Anambra State governor reportedly told his supporters that he was ready to make personal sacrifices to protect their mandate, stressing that every vote must count.

Obi urged Nigerians, particularly his supporters, to actively participate in the electoral process and ensure that their votes are properly protected from polling units through the collation stages.

He maintained that the credibility of the 2027 elections would depend not only on the conduct of the electoral commission but also on the vigilance and participation of voters.

The Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 election has remained a prominent figure in Nigeria’s opposition politics, with supporters pushing for renewed political participation ahead of the 2027 presidential contest.

Obi’s remarks come amid growing political activities and preparations by political parties and their candidates for the 2027 elections.
