NUJ WANTS OONI TO EXTEND TRADITIONAL PEACE MOVE TO NATION LEADERS

The leadership of Nigeria Union of Journalists,(NUJ), on Tuesday called on Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Ogunwusi to extend his peace initiative beyond traditional Institution, but all leaders of the Yoruba nation in particular and the nation in general.
The call was made by the union National President Waheed Odusile when he led leaders of the body in zone B on a courtesy visit to the monarch in his palace in Ile-Ife.
Odusile who praised the leadership style of the royal father said his effort aimed at uniting traditional rulers in the Yoruba race and the country at large, is already yielding results.
He noted further that, at this critical moment in the life of the country, more leaders in the mould of the monarch are needed to steer Nigeria’s troubled ship to a safe harbour,just as he gave assurance that journalists will be willing to support such peaceful initiative.
Odusile while making specific references to the first class traditional ruler, youth and women empowerment initiatives, commended the Ooni for coming up with practical approach towards keeping youth and women in his domain away from vices.
He added that having armies of unemployed youth and women on streets portend great dangers for the country and charged all tiers of government to come up with well planned initiatives that should be sustained to effectively rescue the country from the disaster hovering over her head, with the increasing number of youth and women roaming streets in search of job.
Odusile also used the visit to inform the monarch of a Public Lecture being planned to mark the 62nd anniversary of the union, alongside 92nd birthday of former president, Sheu Shagari scheduled for April 27, in Abuja where Ooni is being expected as the Royal Father of the day.
Meanwhile,the traditional ruler in response thanked the union leadership for the visit and promised to personally attend the event.
