NUJ EXTOLS BOARD APPOINTMENTS OF ONABULE,RUNSEWE

The Nigeria Union of Journalists(NUJ) on Sunday said the appointments of tested professionals and technocrats to head some Federal Government owned media establishments and parastatals was a welcome development.
The union in a press statement signed by its National Secretary,Shuaibu Usman Leman commended President Muhammed Buhari over the appointments.
‘We commended President Muhammedu Buhari for appointing tested professionals like Duro Onabule as Chairman of NTA Board and Otunba Olusegun Runsewe as DG Council of Arts and Culture amongst others’,Leman said.
The release also stated further that, the appointment of Olusegun Runsewe was well received,as it came as a relief efforts are being made to reposition the arts and culture.
‘The appointment of Runsewe which is well received, comes as a relief as efforts are being made to reposition the Arts and Culture sector’,the statement said.
‘As Chairman of the International Institute of Journalism Governing Council Abuja, and an experienced Technocrat, we believe that he will deploy all the experience he acquired over time to revamp the cultural sector’.
‘We equally salute the other key appointments into positions in NTA and FRCN. This development surely explains that the Federal Government is mindful of the complex nature of these key areas and desires to make a meaningful change’.
The union said it was convinced that,the highly intelligent and resourceful individuals will bring the much needed change to uplift their respective sectors.
‘It is our conviction that these highly intelligent and resourceful individuals will bring the much needed change to uplift their respective sectors’,the statement emphasised.
‘Certainly this assignment is difficult but with the caliber of professionals appointed and with our support , the desired milestone will be achieved within a limited time.
Meanwhile,while rejoicing with these appointments, the union urged the appointees to justify the confidence we all have in them.
