NSCEA Mourns Missionary Ruth Elton (Papa S.G. Elton’s Daughter)

The Nigerian Supreme Council for Ecclesiastical Affairs (NSCEA) is deeply saddened by the passing of Missionary Ruth Elton, the daughter of the legendary Papa S.G. Elton, on August 30, 2025. Mama Missionary Ruth Elton, as she was fondly known, was a pillar of faith and a dedicated missionary who spent her life serving the Lord in Nigeria.

Born on September 7, 1933, Mama Ruth Elton dedicated her life to spreading the gospel and promoting public health in various parts of Nigeria. She followed in her father’s footsteps, carrying the torch of evangelism and compassion to communities across the country. Her selfless service and commitment to the Lord’s work have left an indelible mark on the Nigerian Christian community.

She was the only child of Sydney Granville “Pa” Elton, a renowned evangelist and Area Superintendent of the Apostolic Church of Nigeria. Ruth Elton passed away on August 30, 2025, at the age of 91 in Ilesa, Osun State, Nigeria.
