Now That OBI’S ‘Mini-Dubai’ Is Online

By Mohammed Adamu
Suddenly an infinitesimally long list of Pit’Obi’s purported projects while he was Governor of Anambra State has surfaced, and is now making the rounds Online to hoodwink the unsuspecting. The message is that Pit’Obi, like Tinubu, has projects to his credit after all!
Abeg, make una checkaam: Overhead bridges, multi-laned double-carriage highways, dualized roads, Julius Berger-plied (so they wrote) flyovers, skyscraper-sixed edifices, mega-sized five star hotels, world class hospitals and a multi-storey brewery (or is it breweries?).
Going through this amazing list, I immediately had a sense of an excruciating de ja vu of megalopolous Emirates-reminiscences with the buzzing reverie of an Awka as the bright Eastern Mini Dubai of a derelict and dilapidating Nigeria.
So now that Pit’Obi’s mythical project-bull which had hibarnated too long in the proverbial ‘China shop’ of public cynicism, has at last come out of hiding and like a ‘thriller’ masquerade is about to challenge naysayers to a ‘dazzle’ dance!
But the bad news is that the dance remains Online still and NOT Offline where there should be a connect between the masquerade’s steps on ground and the colorful plumage of its dissembling thoracic make-belief!
Pit’Obi’s governance records still abide in the realm of hearsay.
Virtually no Nigerian is in doubt about what Ganduje has done in Kano, or what El-Rufai has done in Kaduna, or Umahi in Ebonyi, or maybe what an intrasingent and cantankerous Wike has done in Rivers State! We see them on the webs and we see them on the ground!
And as a ‘good wine” they say “needs no bush’, there are typical aeriel views nowadays of certain masterpiece-cities in Nigeria that absolutely require no diviner’s crystal ball to tell whose governance imprimatur are those.
Ironically, Anambra’s Awka is not any near one of them. Poor Awka is still a minusculer development needle completely lost in the Eastern haystack of underdevelopment even after an Einstein Pit’Obi claimed to have laid a spirito-Midas Touch on it!
And the question arises: how come only Pit’Obi’s performance have to be listed with a pen, on paper and peddled around like rumor online? That there’s a unanimous preference for merely listing on paper and bandying Online, tells how much there is to the Obi performance charade than truly meet the eye.
The Hausas say that you do not tell a dog that there’s a feast in it’s own house. You simply let the feast take a life of its own; so that once there is a lot of littering on the ground, then the dog will know that there’s indeed a feast at home!
