NNPP Chieftain in Jigawa Defects to ADC

A prominent member of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Jigawa State, Bello Muhammad Zaki, has formally resigned his membership of the party and defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

In a resignation letter dated January 1, 2026, and addressed to the Chairman of the NNPP, Unguwar Gabas Ward, Kazaure Local Government Area, Zaki said his decision followed extensive consultations with his family, relatives, supporters, and well-wishers.

According to the letter, Zaki described the move as a major New Year resolution, stating that he had chosen to join “like-minds” in the African Democratic Congress to pursue his political aspirations.

He announced that his resignation from the NNPP takes immediate effect and conveyed goodwill to the party leadership and members, wishing them a happy and prosperous New Year. Zaki also confirmed that he attached his NNPP membership card to the letter as part of the formal resignation process.

The defection adds to the growing list of political realignments ahead of future electoral contests in Jigawa State, as parties continue to strengthen their structures at the grassroots level.
