NNPC Ltd to temporarily shut down Port Harcourt refinery for maintenance and assessment
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has announced the temporary shutdown of the Port Harcourt Refining Company (PHRC) to carry out scheduled maintenance and a sustainability assessment.
This was revealed in a press statement issued on Saturday by Olufemi Soneye, the company’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer.
According to the statement, the planned shutdown begins today, May 24, 2025.
“NNPC Ltd wishes to inform the general public that the Port Harcourt Refining Company (PHRC) will undergo a planned maintenance shutdown starting May 24, 2025,” the release stated.
The company noted that it is working in coordination with key stakeholders, including the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), to ensure that the maintenance process is executed efficiently and transparently.
“NNPC Ltd remains steadfast in its commitment to delivering sustainable energy security for Nigeria,” the statement added.
The company also assured that regular updates on the progress of the maintenance and assessment will be made available through its official website, media platforms, and other public communication channels.
