NNPC Ltd. stresses strategic alliances as catalyst for downstream petroleum growth

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) has reiterated the critical importance of strategic partnerships in unlocking value, driving commercialization, and ensuring sustainability across Nigeria’s downstream petroleum sector.

This was the key message delivered by the Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Ltd., Engr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari, represented by the Executive Vice President, Downstream, Mr. Mumuni Dagazau, at the 2025 Inaugural Annual Downstream Petroleum Week.

According to Mr. Andy Odeh, Chief Communications Officer, NNPCL, in a statement on Tuesday, the event was organized by the House of Representatives Committee on Petroleum Resources (Downstream) and held at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja.

Speaking at the forum themed “Celebrating Our Successes, Confronting Our Challenges, and Finding Solutions for the Petroleum Downstream Sector,” Ojulari described Nigeria’s downstream sector as one undergoing transformation driven by transition, emerging opportunities, and strategic reforms.

He emphasized that collaboration among stakeholders is central to building a sustainable energy future, especially as Africa’s energy demand is projected to rise significantly in the coming years—with Nigeria playing a pivotal role.

“There is a need for coordinated efforts and collective responsibility to harness the opportunities emerging in the sector,” Ojulari stated.

“The opportunity to create a sustainable economy for today and the future is hinged on supply partnerships, infrastructure co-investments, security collaborations, host community cooperation, and operational alliances.”

On the domestic front, he reaffirmed NNPC Ltd.’s commitment to ensuring the availability of petroleum products, competitive pricing, and stringent quality assurance throughout its nationwide retail network.

Ojulari also commended the National Assembly and the organizing committee for providing a strategic platform to address key issues facing the sector. He assured stakeholders of NNPC Ltd.’s ongoing commitment to fostering engagement and advancing collaborative models that promote sector-wide growth.

The event brought together key players in the downstream industry, legislators, and other stakeholders to chart a course for the future of Nigeria’s petroleum downstream sector.
