NNPC Ltd reaffirms commitment to Downstream Infrastructure Growth

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has renewed its commitment to strengthening and expanding Nigeria’s downstream oil and gas infrastructure to enhance collaboration, efficiency, and sustainability across the sector.

Group Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Bayo Ojulari, made this known, he was represented at the 2025 OTL Africa Downstream Energy Week by the Executive Vice President, Downstream, Dr. Mumuni Dagazau.

The NNNPC Ltd Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Andy Odey disclosed this in a statement he issued on Wednesday.

Speaking on the conference theme, “Energy Sustainability: Beyond Boundaries & Competition,” Ojulari emphasized that traditional market competition alone is no longer sufficient to achieve efficiency in the evolving energy landscape.

He stressed the need for collaboration, sustainability, and resilience as key pillars for driving long-term success.

“At NNPC, we are committed to deploying additional infrastructure across the oil and gas value chain, while also revamping our existing downstream facilities nationwide,” Ojulari stated. “These assets will be made accessible to partners for product storage and transportation, thereby fostering strategic alliances and collaboration within the downstream sector.”

The GCEO highlighted that a combination of strategic government policies, fiscal incentives, and transparent regulatory frameworks, particularly under the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA), has stimulated growth and expansion in Nigeria’s downstream sector. He noted that this transformation demands new skill sets and increased investment in emerging business lines, including Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), and mini-LNG projects.

Ojulari urged participants to use the conference as a platform to address sectoral challenges, identify new opportunities, and redefine energy systems in ways that are profitable, sustainable, and inclusive. He called for cross-sector partnerships and innovative business models that promote decarbonization while delivering economic value.

The OTL Africa Downstream Energy Week is the continent’s foremost downstream and midstream energy event, convening international organizations, policymakers, regulators, development partners, operators, service providers, and consumers within the energy value chain.
