NNPC Limited Appoints New Heads of Corporate Communications and Relations

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) has announced the appointment of two accomplished professionals to lead its communications and stakeholder relations efforts. Mr. Andy Odeh has been named Chief Corporate Communications Officer, while Mrs. Morenike Adewunmi assumes the role of Chief Relations Officer.

The appointments are part of NNPC’s strategic efforts to strengthen stakeholder engagement and enhance public communication in line with its ongoing transformation as a fully commercial entity.

Mr. Odeh, a veteran of the communications industry, brings over 30 years of experience spanning oil and gas, advertising, and broadcasting. Prior to joining NNPC Ltd., he served at Nigeria LNG (NLNG) for 26 years in multiple leadership roles, including General Manager of External Relations and Sustainable Development.

At NLNG, he led several high-profile initiatives, including the company’s rebranding campaign and the launch of the NLNG Prize for Energy Reporting. He also implemented one of the country’s most successful micro-credit schemes for host communities. Mr. Odeh holds academic credentials from the University of Jos, University of Lagos, INSEAD Business School, and the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS).

Mrs. Adewunmi brings a wealth of legal and regulatory expertise to her new role, with more than 25 years of experience in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector. A lawyer by training, she has held key leadership roles at Shell Companies in Nigeria (SCIN), including Regulatory Affairs Manager and Government Relations Manager.

Highly respected for her ability to navigate complex external environments, Mrs. Adewunmi is a recognized expert in non-technical risks and stakeholder engagement. She has built strong working relationships across government institutions and regulatory bodies, safeguarding operational continuity and regulatory compliance. She holds degrees from Olabisi Onabanjo University and the Nigerian Law School.

NNPC Ltd. described the appointments as a reflection of its commitment to fostering transparency, trust, and effective communication with its diverse stakeholders.
