NNPC hike fuel price again

Retail outlets operated by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) have increased the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (petrol), with stations in Abuja now selling at ₦945 per litre as of Monday.

In Lagos, NNPC stations have also adjusted their rates upward to ₦915 per litre, marking a notable shift in fuel pricing trends within the downstream retail sector.

This adjustment reflects a ₦35 increase in Abuja and a ₦45 jump in Lagos, compared to the previous prices of ₦910 and ₦870 per litre, respectively.

The price hike comes in the wake of Dangote Petroleum Refinery’s recent upward revision of its ex-depot petrol price, from ₦825 to ₦880 per litre—an industry-wide move that has triggered similar responses across the fuel distribution chain.

Consumers are now facing greater economic pressure, as the updated prices are being rolled out at various NNPC-owned stations, further compounding already burdensome transportation and living expenses.

In Abuja’s Kubwa Federal Housing area, the new ₦945 per litre rate was clearly displayed, while the same pricing was observed at the NNPC mega station on Obasanjo Way.

Similarly, in Lagos, the new ₦915 per litre rate was evident at outlets in Igando and along the Badagry Expressway.

Private marketers are also responding to the pricing shift. MRS, a key distributor affiliated with the Dangote refinery, raised its pump price to ₦925 per litre in Lagos, up from the earlier ₦875 rate.
