NIS Games: Anambra emerges overall winner, as Edo lifts football trophy

Anambra Command has emerged overall winner at the maiden edition of Nigeria Immigration Sports Festival concluded on Friday in Benin City,  Edo State capital, just as Edo Command won the football gold.

The sports fiesta organized by the Zone G Command of the services was held at the Benin Zonal headquarters, sports complex, Ikpoba hill, Benin City.

At the end of the games, Team Anambra led the medals table with four gold, one silver and two bronze totalling seven medals. Edo command places second with three gold, one silver and two bronze medals, while Zone G with two gold, four silver and two bronze to place third, just as Bayelsa came forth with one gold, two silver and four bronze.

In the football final watched by the Assistant Controller General in charge of the zone, Justina Ahmadu and Controllers of Enugu, Edo, Bayelsa, Anambra,  and Delta Commands, Team Edo beat Anambra by two unreplied goals to lift the trophy.

Also, the battle for the football bronze medal went to Enugu command after beating Delta command by 7/6 on penalty after a barren draw in the pulsating 90 minutes of play.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, the ACG, Ahmadu, commended participating commands for the team spirit they displayed throughout the festival which made it a huge success.

Meanwhile, the highpoint of the games was the presentation of medals and trophy to the participating teams and deserving individuals at the event.
