NIMC responds to PSC’s claim of being denied access to verification platform

The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has addressed recent claims by the Police Service Commission (PSC) regarding alleged denial of access to its verification platform.
In a statement made available to Techeconomy and signed by Dr. Kayode Adegoke, Head of Corporate Communications at NIMC, the Commission clarified that all its verification service platforms remain fully operational and accessible to all authorized partners, including security agencies.
“The Commission is aware of the purported claims that the Police Service Commission is unable to access the NIMC verification server. This claim is not only misleading but also inaccurate,” the statement read.
NIMC emphasized that it has granted verification access to all formations of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) for authenticating National Identification Numbers (NINs). It added that the PSC, NPF, and other security agencies have been using the Commission’s verification services without interruption for over five years.
“NIMC has consistently provided high-quality verification services to support recruitment efforts by the PSC into the Nigeria Police Force. At no time have there been complaints or reported issues regarding NIN verification by either the PSC or NPF,” the statement continued.
The Commission highlighted its strong and cooperative relationship with both the NPF and PSC. It noted that the ICT department of the Nigeria Police Force actively manages the long-standing integration and verification processes between the NIMC and all police formations.
“NIMC remains committed to delivering seamless verification services for recruitment, security mapping, cybercrime investigations, and other security-related matters,” the Commission said.
Dr. Adegoke also noted that the service framework for security agencies was recently restructured for standardization and more effective implementation, in consultation with the Office of the National Security Adviser. According to him, the NPF has confirmed that verification services remain active and available.
“Therefore, any disruption in service experienced by the PSC may be due to internal issues,” he added.
NIMC reaffirmed its dedication to providing top-tier verification services to the PSC, NPF, and all its partners, emphasizing the importance of adhering to the established terms and conditions to ensure uninterrupted service delivery.
