Nile University of Nigeria host 7th edition of NPUGA games

The Nile University of Nigeria will be hosting the 7th edition of Nigerian Private University Games (NPUGA).
NPUGA is a biennial event hosted by selected universities, is aimed at identifying and rewarding exceptional talents as well as fostering unity in the spirit of sportsmanship amongst youths.
In a joint press conference, the Vice Chancellor, Nile University of Nigeria, Professor Dr. Huseyin Sert and President NGUGA Mr. Tunde Akinola, said the event for the first will also feature cultural festivals.
According to the host university VC, Prof. Sert said “in our pursuit of excellence and determination to encourage the development of sports and culture in tertiary institutions in Nigeria, NILE university is collaborating with stakeholders in sports as well as culture, Tourism to host this year’s NPUGA in addition to cultural festival.
“The event is bigger and more colourful this year because of the introduction of unique cultural festival”.
The VC explained further that, the event is aimed at underscoring the capacityof sports and culture in strengthening the relationship between Nigeriaand other countries “while helping friendly countries to socialize.
“In the end, this seed of friendship and relationship is expected to advance, deepen and bring about mutual understanding and co-existence which will ultimately promote peace and unity, he said.
Also speaking, President of NPUGA, Mr. Tunde Akinola argued that they are not trying to compete with NUGA games rather Nigeria Private University Games is aimed at complimenting the efforts of the ministry of sports.
“NPUGA is out to show talents in our youths, where coaches can come and scout for talents that will represent the country internationally”.
This year’s event promises lots of fun such as music, dance and cultural displays. Guests will be entertained by some of the most outstanding cultural troupes. There will also be display of arts and craft, graphics and calligraphic design from friendly countries.
Ten event will be competing, they are; Athletics, football, basketball, badminton, chess, tennis, table tennis, scrabble, swimming and volleyball.
